Formal onboarding programs are instrumental in socializing new professionals by establishing a structured framework for initial engagements. Yet, there is a lack of scientifically validated advice for the process of integrating recent graduates.
Across international contexts, this review evaluated research comparing the impact of formal onboarding programs for new professionals (ages 18-30, based on the sample mean) to the effects of informal onboarding methods, or standard practice, within professional organizations. The socialization of new professionals was a significant subject of the review. Employing the electronic databases Web of Science and Scopus, a search strategy sought to uncover both published research (with a commencement date of 2006) and English-language studies slated for publication. This search concluded on November 9th, 2021. Independent reviewers double-checked the selected papers' adherence to the eligibility criteria, following the screening of titles and abstracts. Based on the templates from the Joanna Briggs Institute, two independent reviewers meticulously performed the critical appraisal and data extraction. A narrative synthesis of the findings culminated in their presentation within tables. Systemic lupus erythematosus, a chronic autoimmune disease of undisclosed source, poses significant health challenges. Using empirical evidence from observational databases, this research sought to develop SLE phenotype algorithms applicable to epidemiological studies.
Phenotype algorithms for health conditions included in observational research were empirically determined and evaluated through a process. The process of investigating SLE was launched with a literature search to identify preceding algorithms. Our objective was to determine the effectiveness of administering a single dose of lithium in managing acute kidney injury resulting from rhabdomyolysis. Wistar rats, male, were divided into four groups: Sham, receiving 0.9% saline intraperitoneally; lithium (Li), receiving a single intraperitoneal injection of lithium chloride (LiCl) at 80 mg/kg of body weight; glycerol (Gly), receiving 5 mL/kg of 50% glycerol intramuscularly; and glycerol plus lithium (Gly+Li), receiving a single intramuscular dose of 50% glycerol followed by an intraperitoneal injection of 80 mg/kg lithium chloride (LiCl) 2 hours later. Inulin clearance assays were performed, and blood, kidney, and muscle samples were collected, 24 hours after the start of the experiment. Gly rats exhibited a complex interplay of renal dysfunction, manifested through kidney injury, inflammation, and alterations in apoptosis and redox signaling pathways. A notable enhancement in renal function and a decrease in kidney injury score were observed in Gly+Li rats, associated with lower CPK levels and a pronounced decrease in renal and muscle GSK3 protein content. Lithium administration was further correlated with a reduction in macrophage infiltrate, diminished NF-κB and caspase renal protein expression, and an elevation in the antioxidant marker MnSOD. In cases of rhabdomyolysis-associated AKI, lithium therapy proved effective in alleviating renal dysfunction by positively impacting inulin clearance, reducing CPK levels, and suppressing inflammation, apoptosis, and oxidative stress. The inhibition of GSK3 likely produced the therapeutic benefits, and it is possible this was connected to a diminishing of muscle injury.

Participants from past studies, who had provided consent for further contact (N = 32989), were approached between June and November 2020 to complete a survey, available through online submission, phone survey, or mail. To ascertain the connections between cancer history, social distancing, and loneliness, linear and logistic regression models were employed.
Of the 5729 participants examined, the average age was 567 years, 356% were male, 894% were White, and 549% had experienced cancer (n = 3147). Cancer history was associated with decreased social interaction outside the household (490% vs. 419%, p<0.001), but interestingly, less reported loneliness (358% vs. 453%, p<0.00001) compared to those without cancer. Stronger adherence to social distancing guidelines was correlated with a heightened risk of loneliness, both among cancer survivors and those without a history of cancer (OR = 127, 95% CI 117-138 for cancer patients; OR = 115, 95% CI 106-125 for non-cancer patients).
